Stainless Steel 443 Pipes are made from a ferritic stainless steel alloy that features a high chromium content and very little nickel, which not only makes them budget-friendly but also highly resistant to corrosion. These pipes excel in mildly corrosive environments, particularly when it comes to resisting oxidation and atmospheric wear. Their magnetic properties provide a distinct advantage in applications that require magnetic detection or separation, and their stability under moderate heat ensures they remain reliable over time.
When it comes to the chemical makeup of 443 stainless steel, it typically contains around 21% chromium, along with small amounts of titanium (about 0.3%) and copper (around 0.4%) to boost corrosion resistance. The carbon content is kept very low (≤ 0.025%) to prevent carbide precipitation and maintain good weldability. Mechanically, 443 pipes have a yield strength ranging from approximately 275 to 305 MPa and a tensile strength between 380 and 550 MPa, with ductility around 25 to 31% and a hardness of about 210 HB. This blend of strength and toughness makes them ideal for forming and welding applications.
